Snake Gourd (padavalanga) Thoran

1. Snake Gourd (padavalanga) - 1
2. Onion - 1 medium sized
3. Green chillis - 3 (slit )
4. Coconut (grated) -a handful
5. Turmeric pd. - 1/4 tsp
6. Channa dal - 1/4 tsp
7. Mustard - a pinch
8. Water - 1/4 cup
9. Oil - 3 tbsp
10. Curry leaves - 6-8
11. Salt - to taste

1. Dice snake gourd and onion. Put the diced snake gourd in a microwave safe bowl, pour water and cover cook in the microwave for 3 minutes.

2. Heat oil. Drop the mustard seeds. When it splutters add the channa dal, onion, green chillis, turmeric pd., and curry leaves. Saute till the onion turns transparent.

3. Add the snake gourd and salt, mix and Cook on low heat till all the water has absorbed stirring occasionally.

4. Add the grated coconut. Mix well. Serve with chapathis or as a side dish with rice.
